Scholarship in Honor of Chef Walter Scheib

In December of 2014 a kick-off fundraiser was hosted for “SHMILY Gifts from Above” in partnership with Texas Financial Advisory in Victoria, Texas.  The event was a success and many South Texans were able to get a glimpse of what life inside the White House was like through Chef Walter’s stories and extravagant “New American Cuisine.” We had him scheduled for another fundraising event in San Antonio, Texas on August 29th, 2015 at The Club at Sonterra.  Because of the heartbreaking news and unfortunate circumstances of his untimely death, we will be coordinating other plans for the event on Saturday, April 9, 2016.  In the interim, Texas Financial Advisory is going to repurpose the $6500 paid to Chef Walter Scheib as a scholarship to a SHMILY recipient to honor his memory and legacy.  Any matching donations received from SHMILY supporters will be put towards this scholarship fund.  If you would like to make a donation in Chef Walter’s name, please make a donation below or mail your donation to:  SHMILY Gifts from Above, 20650 Stone Oak Pkwy, Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78258.  Thank you for your kind donations and support.

 ABOUT

“S.H.M.I.L.Y. Gifts From Above” is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that the Chandler sisters, Brooklynn Chandler Willy, President of Texas Financial Advisory and Managing Partners, Spring Chandler Taylor and Drew Chandler Hennig, created in 2014. The foundation’s mission is to provide financial assistance as well as emotional support to college students who lose a parent while seeking a higher education. All proceeds from fundraising events and private donations go directly to “S.H.M.I.L.Y. Gifts From Above“.

They know that the success they have experienced with their business needs to be paid forward. With this in mind, the Chandler girls founded “S.H.M.I.L.Y. Gifts from Above”. The girls learned the acronym S.H.M.I.L.Y. which stands for “See How Much I Love You” from their hometown pastor, Ray Still, of Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels, Texas.

Pastor Ray gave a sermon while the girls were in high school on relationships and how it is the little things in life that you do for one another that provides love, guidance and support. These acts of kindness can be summarized simply as an act to see how much I love you or S.H.M.I.L.Y.

As you probably recall from our company video on the home page our website – www.TexasFinancialAdvisory.com –”, the girls lost their father unexpectedly to a heart attack while they were students at Baylor University. They had followed in their dad’s footsteps and attended Baylor University, his Alma Mater. Tragically, their father passed away not owning any life insurance which was disappointing considering that his career was as a life insurance salesman. Because of this heartbreaking event in their lives, the three sisters were strapped with their own school loans and therefore giving them the desire to help students who are faced with this tragedy.

MISSION

The “S.H.M.I.L.Y. Gifts From Above” mission is to provide financial assistance as well as emotional support to college students who lose a parent while seeking a higher education. We eventually would like to expand our cause to include students in high school that have a desire to attend college who lose a parent while in high school. Texas Financial Advisory gives a portion of their profits to “S.H.M.I.L.Y. Gifts from Above”. From a business standpoint, we find that clients find value in our organization because of our financial commitment to sacrifice a portion of our profits to a nonprofit organization. Indirectly that allows the client the ability to provide a positive impact on another individual that they would not have the opportunity to do with other financial advisory firms.
