Nannette Sabo, MBA, MSA

Operations Advisor & Fund Specialist

Why did you get into the financial services industry?

I entered the financial markets in the late 90s. At that time, Capital Markets were an exciting place to be and offered vast career growth and opportunities. I wanted to be a part of the energy the markets offered.

How/why did you join Texas Financial Advisory?

From the moment, I walked through the doors, I felt it was a comfortable, family oriented environment. Brooklynn’s story really touched me close to my heart and I wanted to be a part of her to team.

How has your past experiences (career, life, etc.) paved the way for you to succeed at Texas Financial Advisory?

My past experiences in my career will offer great foundations for our team to build off.  I have a well-rounded understanding of the financial services industry.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

My passion outside of work is to help others.  I volunteer with a local charity; Soldiers’ Angels, when I can. With the military influence around me most of my life, it is very important for me to support our service men & women. I do what I can to help but generally, I am involved with the mobile food distribution for our Vets once a month.

My true passion is horses, horses, horses. I have found during a very challenging time in my life God brought to me these amazing animals.  With God’s help they are my strength. I spend most of my Saturday at Fort Sam Houston whether I’m feeding the Caisson Horses carrots, enjoying my lesson at Fort Sam Horse Equestrian Center or just spending time at the barn. I am currently reading a lot about equine management and horse behaviors.

My faith inspires me and keeps me going.  So, on Sunday’s I can be found at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

I am so thankful to have found my home in San Antonio.

Brian Martinek, JD

Associate Advisor, College Funding Specialist & Sports Financial Advisor

Why did you get into the financial services industry?

I got into the financial services industry because I wanted to apply my education and skills in a new area. I’m an educator at heart, so helping people understand their retirement picture and what their money is doing for them is very appealing to me.

How/why did you join Texas Financial Advisory?

Specifically, I joined Texas Financial Advisory to lead our College Funding practice. However, the main reason I joined TFA is because I have trust in Brooklynn as she leads our team to great success helping families plan for and enjoy their retirement.  We have a great team here, and I was honored to be asked by Brooklynn to be a part of it.

How has your past experiences (career, life, etc.) paved the way for you to succeed at Texas Financial Advisory?

With almost 10 years in higher education, specifically intercollegiate athletics including my time as a baseball student-athlete, I have been on the other side of the desk when it comes to dealing with students and their families. Now being able to assist families as their child prepares to go off to college and helping them not pay sticker price for an education is both rewarding and exciting.  My past experiences have allowed me to apply real-life scenarios while solving college funding problems for my clients.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

With a toddler at home, my schedule is usually set for me! I enjoy spending time with my wife Sammie and our daughter Malia, and we can usually be found either going to a sporting event or watching one on television.  When I have a chance, I do enjoy playing bad golf.  I do like to get involved, and plan to do more in the future, with groups like Eva’s Heroes and San Antonio Pets Alive.

Yvette Barrera

Independent Associate, Medicare Supplement Specialist

Why did you get into the financial services industry?

I got into the financial industry by accident. I actually got involved with a company that provided Medicare and Long-Term Care insurance and I started to understand how important all the decisions you make regarding your retirement savings can affect you. I decided at that time that I needed to dive deeper into the financial side and I have never looked back.

How/why did you join Texas Financial Advisory?

I have known Brooklynn since high school and we ran into each other at conference in Las Vegas with one of the carriers we were both appointed with. We got to talking and realized that we could both benefit from each other’s experiences. I love everything Texas Financial Advisory’s stands for so it was really a no brainer for me.

How has your past experiences (career, life, etc.) paved the way for you to succeed at Texas Financial Advisory?

I have been an athlete my whole life and I have always understood how important it is to be a team player. Texas Financial Advisory provides that same team mentality when it comes to helping people so it has been an easy transition to make sure my clients know that “WE” are a team as well walk through the journey of retirement.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Outside of work you can catch me spending time with my two children, Piper(3) and Hudson(2). When we aren’t at ballet, swim, or watching college football, you can catch us as a family traveling to play poker. My children are really supportive of our love for poker and understand that mommy and daddy have to practice in order to stay competitive. My husband and I are part time poker pros and try to get away to a tournament at least once a quarter. You might just see one of us on television someday soon.  I am also super passionate about coaching volleyball. As a former college athlete, I try and instill a good work ethic and mental toughness in the young ladies I have had the privilege to influence.

Kristie Munoz

Client Relationship Specialist

Why did you get into the financial services industry?

I came into the financial industry starting out as a Premier Client Specialist in August 2010.  I provided structure and knowledge to all of my clients, while allowing them the success of reaching their goals and making their dreams come to a reality!  I quickly discovered that I loved the challenge in allowing people to get over those milestones, that they thought was never possible or couldn't happen!  My Motto:  "You can do anything you want as long as you have the knowledge, the right tools,  and the drive to get there!!

I wanted the challenge of helping others succeed in life when it came to their finances and savings plan.  I am the "Planner" in our family!!  Because of this journey, I have a better plan for my family and the knowledge to teach and better prepare for their future!

How/why did you join Texas Financial Advisory?

Brooklynn Chandler Willy!  I have so much respect for Brooklynn and her firm, Texas Financial Advisory.  Mrs. Willy came in this industry when the economy was at its worst and most vulnerable in 2008.  She has continued to build an empire, while leading our wonderful clients in the right direction, rain or shine.

How has your past experiences (career, life, etc.) paved the way for you to succeed at Texas Financial Advisory?

Other than hoping and praying to the man above?  I've had an opportunity in working in one of the most challenging fast paced industries, working as a court reporter.  Life is what you make of it!  After slowing down and then picking back up again, I was able to work in the financial industry as a personal banker, for a few years thereafter.  I have learned that I do love a challenge and working with people who appreciate life!

What are you passionate about outside of work?

My husband and my children!  Any time I get to spend with them is a treasure!  I love my babies and my husband Daniel, whom I've been married to for 16 years!

Zach Holcomb

Marketing Operations Coordinator

Why did you get into the financial services industry?

I went into the financial service industry because I wanted to test the waters in a new environment. Before I started my employment at Texas Financial Advisor I interned at a small tech company. I didn't find the work rewarding so I started to look for a change. I got in with Brooklynn in May of 2016 and it's been full speed ahead ever since!

How/why did you join Texas Financial Advisory?

Brooklynn had partnered with an organization through my college that offers internship programs to undergrads. I had just finished my internship period at a previous company when I came across the job posting at TFA. I reached out to Brooklynn and the team, came in for an interview, and started with two other students in the summer of 2016!

How has your past experiences (career, life, etc.) paved the way for you to succeed at Texas Financial Advisory?

I had exposure working in the marketing department for a large company in the past, so it was easy to transition some of my knowledge into Texas Financial Advisory. The marketing world is constantly changing, so everyday has a new challenge and obstacle to overcome. I'm always trying to stay one step ahead of the curve and work as hard a possible to bring out the best in myself.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Currently I'm preparing to pursue my masters degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the fall of 2018. My family lives very close to San Antonio and I'm visiting them as much as I can. My dad and I love watching college football together so you can always find me keeping up with all the scores on a fall Saturday!
